Editing Forms with Triggers

Triggers are a tool you can use to make changes happen automatically on your form once certain criteria have been met.  They are a great way to implement early bird discounts, registration limitations, and time limits, for example

What Are Triggers?

Triggers are a setting that can be applied to an entire form, a payment section, or a payment item to automatically make a change when certain criteria have been met.

Trigger Types

There are two types of triggers: Sold Count and Date Based. Triggers based on Sold Count will make the change take effect after a certain number of items sold has been processed for an item.  Date Based triggers make the change take effect on the date or during the time frame you specify.

Trigger Parameters

The parameters you may select to construct your trigger are:

Note that the effects relating to price change are only available at the item level, and can only be applied to items with fixed price amounts (i.e. not open donation fields).

For date based triggers, leaving the start or end date field empty means that date will be considered in effect for infinity.  So, leaving the start date empty will cause the trigger to take effect immediately, and leaving the end date empty will cause the trigger to take effect without end.

Trigger Effect Definitions

Object Becomes Inactive The object (page, section, or item) will be made inactive.  If this effect is used in conjunction with an end date, the object will be made active again on the form, and will be replaced in its former position (as long as the object preceding it on the form is still active).
Object Becomes Sold Out The status of the object will be made sold out.
Price increased/decreased by $ The price for the item will be increased/decreased by and exact amount.  It will be increased if you enter a positive integer (i.e. 5) and decreased if you enter a negative integer (ie. -5)
Price Discounted by % The price will be decreased by the percentage you choose.  For example, entering "25" for an item priced $100 would result in the price being changed to $75.
Price Changed to $ The price of the item will be changed to the exact amount you specify.
